Sacramental Preparation at St Joseph’s
At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we work closely with our Parish Priests to provide Sacramental preparation as part of our Religious Education curriculum.
As parents choosing a Catholic education for your child, we ask that you and your child take an active part in all aspects of this preparation. Together, we can support the children as they grow in understanding of the Sacraments, helping them to deepen their faith and strengthen their relationship with God.

Year 3 – Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession):
In the Spring Term, children prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent. Through this, they learn about God’s forgiveness, the importance of saying sorry, and how we are called to live our lives in the way God wants. -
Year 3 – Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion):
In the Summer Term, the children receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist. They are taught about the Consecration, when the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, and they learn what it means to receive Jesus in Holy Communion as a source of strength and grace. -
Year 6 – Sacrament of Confirmation:
Children receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, celebrated by the Bishop. In this Sacrament, they receive the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, helping them to live faithfully as young disciples of Christ. Through Confirmation, they are strengthened in their faith and recognised as adult members of the Church.
Our Sacramental Preparation Programmes are planned and delivered in partnership with our Parish Priests, Father Van and Father Dave, alongside school leaders. Together, we ensure that each child is supported on their journey of faith.
