Faith in Action

Mini Vinnies at St Joseph’s

At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, we are blessed to have a dedicated team of Mini Vinnies.

Mini Vinnies are children aged 7 to 11 who are part of the wider St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) in England and Wales, which is also active in many countries around the world. The SVP is a voluntary organisation committed to tackling poverty in all its forms and bringing hope to those in need.

Our Mini Vinnies meet regularly to pray, reflect, and take action to make a positive difference in our school and wider community. Their activities may include fundraising, supporting local charities, raising awareness of global issues, and finding simple, practical ways to show kindness and care for others.

Working closely with the SVP and our parish community, our Mini Vinnies are living examples of faith in action—following the example of St Vincent de Paul by showing love, compassion, and service to those around them.

Faith in Action

At St Joseph’s, we believe that faith is lived out through love and service. Following Jesus’ call to help others, our children and staff take pride in supporting a wide range of charities and initiatives throughout the year.

Some of the ways we put our faith into action include:

  • Fundraising Days – Wearing our own clothes to raise money for chosen charities.

  • Harvest Giving – Donating food at our Harvest Festival or through local foodbanks.

  • Lenten Fundraising – Our Mission Team organises a cake sale before the start of Lent and then each class organises their own fundraising event during Lent, raising money for charities such as CAFOD and our the Good Shepherd Appeal.

  • Poppy Appeal – Supporting the Royal British Legion and remembering those who gave their lives for others.

We are also proud to respond to other charity events that arise during the year, ensuring that our school community continues to make a difference both locally and globally.
