Catholic Social Teachings

At St. Joseph’s, the 9 Principles of Catholic Social Teaching are interwoven into all aspects of our  school life using CAFOD's child friendly model:
  • Dignity of the human person - Everyone is special
  •      The Common Good - Thinking of everyone
  •      Participation - Taking Part
  •      Subsidiarity - Everyone should have a say
  •      Stewardship - Caring for God's Gifts
  •      Option for the Poor - Putting people in most need first
  •      Distributive Justice - Sharing Fairly
  •      Solidarity - Showing we care
  •      Promoting Peace - Being peacemakers

As part of our spiritual journey, we explore these principles through our curriculum, times of prayer and our everyday actions. Pope Francis emphasises that it is our duty to work together to bring about a more just and peaceful world: to put love into action. It is vital that our children can articulate the connection between Jesus’ teaching, their learning across the curriculum and doing good deeds.
